Vittoria Zucconi

Vittoria is part of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology PhD Program of the University of Siena and joined the research group headed by Dr. Rino Rappuoli at Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) in november 2020. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Sapienza University of Rome and continued her study career with a Master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Biomedical Sciences at Tor Vergata University of Rome. During her Master’s thesis project, Vittoria focused on the role of a bacterial toxin in colorectal cancer onset and development, highlighting a relation between such toxin and neoplastic transformation. More specifically, she analyzed the toxin’s capacity of causing DNA damage and inducing modifications that can facilitate tumor progression.
Vittoria will be working on identification and isolation of human monoclonal antibodies as new therapeutic approaches against anti-microbial resistant pathogens responsible for bowel infections.
