SINO-EU‐PERMED
General Aspects
The health systems’ transformation from reactive treatment models to predictive and preventive systems, hence the implementation of the personalized medicine paradigm, requires cooperation and coordination among different stakeholders, not only at European and Community level, with the aim of building an integrated action plan to foster innovation in this field.
The main objective is the development of new methods to assess the viability of personalized approaches in healthcare systems through collaboration among 6 partners from excellent research centers in Europe (Italy, Denmark, Germany and Ireland) and China, while broadening and deepening the collaborative efforts between stakeholders from both regions. The project will also involve stakeholders from China into the international ICPerMed consortium.
SINO-EU‐PerMed is a four- year project with a budget of about 2 million euros.
Project Activities
SINO-EU‐PerMed activities, coordinated by the partner German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR), will have a first phase dedicated to scientific, technological and policy landscape mapping in the field of Personalized Medicine, with the aim of tracking the collaborations already in place between the EU and China. Once the PerMed landscape is defined, a European Union-China collaboration plan will be developed to reinforce the capacity for innovation of the two Regions and establish a permanent dialogue between IC-PerMed and the Chinese players. The third and last phase includes the proposal and promotion of multilevel (academic, industrial, and business) collaborations through the organization of ad hoc events.
