Heal Italia

“Health Extended ALliance for Innovative Therapies, Advanced Lab-research, and Integrated Approaches of Precision Medicine” (HEAL ITALIA) is Italy’s first national research and innovation network dedicated to precision medicine, bringing together TLS as a partner alongside 24 other organisations across 11 regions of the country. The initiative is part of one of the 14 Extended Partnerships established under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), within Mission 4, Component 2, “From Research to Business”, aimed at investing in innovation hubs to strengthen national research value chains and promote their integration into strategic European and global value networks. With a total budget of €114.7 million, the HEAL ITALIA project was proposed by the University of Palermo as the lead institution, together with 11 other universities, the Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità), five Scientific Institutes for Research, Hospitalisation and Healthcare (IRCCS), six companies, one research foundation, and UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center).
HEAL ITALIA represents the first national network of scientists, technologists, and early-career researchers working within a holistic and multidisciplinary framework to share and advance knowledge, research, and innovative technologies. Its goal is to help bring the Italian National Health Service into the era of Precision Medicine through the development of new methods, services, and, above all, a major clinical data network supporting translational research for advanced diagnostics and therapies in the fight against cancer and cardiovascular, metabolic, and rare diseases. HEAL ITALIA has been developed with the contribution of Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences within the project funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU, under the PNRR Mission 4, Component 2, Investment 1.3.
