OHAMR
General aspects
EUP OHAMR (European Partnership on One Health Antimicrobial Resistance) is an alliance of 53 organizations across 30 countries in the EU and beyond, created to promote research, innovation, and concrete action against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), while embracing the One Health perspective that recognizes the interconnection between human, animal, plant, and environmental health. Facing a global crisis that threatens food security, public health, and ecosystem stability, EUP OHAMR aims to fill gaps in understanding the biological and social mechanisms of AMR, enhance rapid and accessible diagnostics, strengthen surveillance, innovate intervention strategies, and promote the uptake of real-world solutions in clinical, regulatory, and societal contexts.
Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences, as a project partner, helps strengthen knowledge of research on antimicrobial resistance. The aim is to facilitate the exchange, transfer, and adoption of policies, best practices, and concrete actions against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Project’s activities
With a ten-year operational horizon (2025-2035) and a total budget of around €250 million (partly co-funded by the European Union), the partnership is built on sharing capacities, infrastructures, and knowledge, fostering interdisciplinarity, and engaging civil society, healthcare providers, and regulatory authorities to turn scientific ideas into tangible and lasting impact.
