TLS - THE FOUNDATION

The Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) is a non-profit organization that has been operating since 2005 with the objective of supporting research activities in the field of life sciences and fostering the development of projects from basic research to industrial application.
TLS was created to facilitate the process of business start-up in the field of biotechnology applied to human health; to support research in the field of orphan diseases; to manage technology transfer activities in the biomedical field; and to enhance research, including through national and international networking activities.
Thanks to its competencies and technological platforms, TLS presently relies on an important in-house research activity, and is increasingly playing the role of aggregator and system facilitator in the life sciences sector, both at a local level and for international projects.
The founding members of TLS are the Region of Tuscany, the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation and Bank, the Province of Siena, the Universities of Siena, Pisa and Florence, the Sant’Anna and Normale Schools of Advanced Education of Pisa, the Siena university hospital, the Municipality of Siena and the Chamber of Commerce of Arezzo-Siena.

Results

From year to year the foundation pursues increasingly encouraging results, both thanks to the growth of the realities that make up the bioincubator, and thanks to the continuous strengthening of its own research activity.

Organization

The governance of the Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences includes: the President; the Steering Board; the Board of Directors and the Scientific Committee. The main governance tools that the Foundation has adopted are: the Statute; the Code of Ethics and the Organization, Management and Control Model.

History
