Federica Nardi

Federica Nardi gained her master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2014 at the University of Siena. In 2018 she was awarded her doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology under the supervision of Professor Maurizio Orlandini. Her main focus was on the characterization of proteins involved in angiogenesis, with emphasis on the surface glycoprotein CD93. Before graduating, she spent six months as a visiting researcher in the laboratory of Professor Dario Neri at PHILOCHEM using phage display technology to select antibodies against antigens involved in tumorigenesis. After she completed her PhD, she was granted the opportunity to work at the National Cancer Institute in Aviano to study the mechanisms underpinning the malignant evolution of gastrointestinal stromal tumor. During her time at the institute, she became adept at RNA-seq and data analysis. Then, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in a project centred on characterizing mutations involved in retinitis pigmentosa, a disorder of the retina that leads to progressive blindness. She is currently working in a laboratory at Toscana Life Sciences under Professor Anna Kabanova where she is involved in a project funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research in order to understand tumor suppression mechanisms in B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).
