Experiencing business at school. This is the heart of the “Science + Economy = Business” project promoted by the TLS Foundation and supported by the Siena Chamber of Commerce. The initiative, which began during the 2012/2013 school year, was created to promote a culture of business in the biotechnology sector and introduce young people to a labor market that is open to varied and complementary skills.
Six months of training to create a start-up. The students, in the role of young entrepreneurs, follow a course of classroom sessions, guided visits, seminars and entrepreneurial and scientific consulting to guide them in the creation of a company “from A to Z”. The various stages of training are coordinated by teachers and the TLS staff, on the front line with researchers who work in the bio-incubator.
web site. The students involved, who are about to graduate and are therefore about to enter the job market, can exchange information on the business simulation project online at the website www.scienzeeconomia.org, which hosts a news section and a forum managed directly by the students themselves. The classroom experiences, lessons held by experts and meetings with researchers and managers at the TLS bio-incubator offer the students the possibility to experience firsthand all of the phases necessary for the birth of a new company, from the purely administrative and accounting ones to those of a scientific nature.
