KW Apparecchi Scientifici (Scientific Instruments) was founded in 1953 under the name of Officine Meccaniche KW (Kalt -Warm) by the two founders who decided to transfer progressively
their knowledge of refrigeration and heat transfer to the life sciences sector.
The first freezer at -80 was made on the occasion of the production of the Sabin polyhemolytic vaccine in the early 1960s.
KW has 40 employees, most of whom are technicians (several graduates) and its global annual turnover is between 6 and 7 million €. KW is market leader in Italy and are distributed in various parts of the world.
KW designs and produces machines for refrigeration and incubation equipment, these products are manufactured in Italy, in two plants located in Tuscany, in the city of Monteriggioni (Siena). KW products are specialized for biomedical sector, biobanking, pharma industry and scientific research and the firm continuously works on process and product innovation thanks to an internal team of engineers of R&D dept.
With concern to the medical sector, KW is one of the largest Italian manufacturer of medical devices (CE Class IIA and Class I) for blood banks and transfusion centers. All the products are GMP compliant.
